It is possible to ascent on the side of the ski piste and due to the option of artificial snow is the piste relatively snow safe. The route/slope up to the Kolbensattelhuette has practically no danger of avalanches. If you continue your way up to Am Zahn pay attention to alpine dangers including snow avalanches.
Variation: Once you reached the Kolbensattelhuette you can continue your way up to Am Zahn. After the Kolbensattelhuette you leave the slopes and you enter alpine territory.

Wolfi and I met at 14:00 at the Kolbensesselbahn parking lot. The price was 15€ for the parking day ticket and using the slopes. We went up on the side of the ski slopes and took a break at the Kolbensattelhuette. Then we went up a little further; direction to Am Zahn. When it started to get dark we took off our skins and skied down the slopes.
